Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan met with the head of the company “Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.”

On June 28, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Board of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Jung Won-ju, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest noted that it was a great honor for him to meet with the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan on the eve of the second anniversary of the opening of the beautiful Arkadag city, built on the basis of the “smart city” concept, and, taking this opportunity, sincerely congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people on this significant date.

The guest also noted that every time he visits Turkmenistan, he witnesses new achievements, and conveyed warm greetings to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan from the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung.

Thanking for the kind words and expressing best wishes to the President of the Republic of Korea, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the current visit of Jung Won-ju affirms the high level of traditional friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries.

Currently, major Korean companies are effectively operating in various sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan, primarily in the oil and gas complex and the chemical industry.

In this regard, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted that the programs of economic development of Turkmenistan, reforms in the industrial sector and the created favorable conditions for business open up broad prospects for expanding bilateral partnership in new areas. The effective cooperation between the “Turkmenhimiýa” State Concern and the Daewoo company was particularly emphasized.

As the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted, Korean companies are also working on the creation of a medical cluster in the city of Arkadag. In Turkmenistan, special attention is paid to the production efficiency of new facilities, compliance with environmental standards and the introduction of advanced scientific and technological achievements. Speaking about this, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that Daewoo would fulfill its contractual obligations in a timely and high-quality manner.

Thanking for the conditions created for the fulfillment of contractual obligations by the company, Jung Won-ju also said that the Korean Taekwondo Federation had decided to award the National Leader of the Turkmen people the highest degree of taekwondo mastery – ninth Dan, and asked for permission to present the relevant certificate and a special sports uniform.

Then, the head of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation of the Republic of Korea Chong Kapkil, officially presented the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, with a certificate confirming the award of the ninth Dan in taekwondo, as well as a special uniform for taekwondo, in recognition of his services in widely popularizing this sport in the world and also in the development of taekwondo in Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the high appraisal of his services, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted that he regards the awarding of the ninth Dan in taekwondo as an honor given to Turkmen taekwondo specialists. As the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized, all conditions will be created in Turkmenistan for the further development of taekwondo, along with other sports, and a significant expansion of cooperation in this field.

The National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, emphasized with satisfaction that this sport is widespread among young people in Turkmenistan, and Turkmen athletes successfully participate in international competitions, winning prizes. In this regard, the National Leader of Turkmen people noted the usefulness of holding a meeting between the head of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation of the Republic of Korea and Turkmen athletes, which would allow them to receive valuable recommendations.

Having once again expressed gratitude to the head of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Federation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan wished him success in his work.
