The General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union highly appreciated the level of the V Asian Games

The Turkmen delegation, composed of representatives of the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, took part in the 54th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), which was held in Sichuan, People’s Republic of China. The forum was attended by delegates from more than 200 TV and radio broadcasting companies-members of the Union and other media.

The main tasks of the meeting were to identify opportunities for expanding partnerships, exchange of experience in the field of organizing direct broadcasting from major sporting events and international events, training of personnel.

The report on the successful holding of the Ashgabat 2017 Games, including media accompaniment of the competitions, aroused great interest among the participants. It was emphasized that one of the defining conditions that influenced the choice of Turkmenistan as a venue for the V Asian Games in enclosed spaces and in martial arts was the developed sports infrastructure and the great attention paid by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the development of the sphere of sports – the most important resource for the further progress of society.

Foreign journalists expressed great interest in our country and the desire to visit it. In this regard, it was stressed that the holding of the 55th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in Ashgabat on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in 2018 is yet another confirmation of the growing authority of Turkmenistan.

In general, speaking about the importance of the 54th General Assembly of ABU, its participants expressed confidence that it will promote the establishment of professional contacts, the dissemination of advanced information and communication technologies, and will also allow the development of new formats for a more intensive dialogue between the member countries of the Union.
