Delegation headed by the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

From April 5 to 7, 2025, a Turkmen delegation headed by the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova visited the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Tashkent.

During the visit, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the heads of parliaments of the Central Asian countries who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the work of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan conveyed to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the meeting, the sides noted the high level of development of interstate ties on the principles of mutual respect and trust.

The delegation headed by the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan also held meetings with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Akson, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, the Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov, the Chairperson of the Federal Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova.

During bilateral meetings, the importance of adopting, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the Resolutions of the UN General Assembly «International Year of Peace and Trust, 2025» and «Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan», as well as initiatives put forward by our country in the name of ensuring universal peace and security was emphasized.

The parties particularly noted that the philosophy of «Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace» of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is an important initiative in strengthening peace and trust between countries, strengthening friendly and fraternal relations.
