Meeting with the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia

On January 31, 2025, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) Zafar Makhmudov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues in the field of environmental protection, ecology and climate change. Issues of cooperation were discussed, in particular, Turkmenistan’s international initiatives in the field of environmental protection, the efforts of Central Asian countries in combating the negative consequences of climate change, as well as issues of implementing joint projects.

It was noted that, having ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, Turkmenistan is fulfilling all of its obligations.

The parties also discussed the active work of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan, whose activities are aimed at promoting the development of regional dialogue between representatives of environmental and water agencies of the countries of the region.

At the end of the constructive conversation, the parties expressed hope for further promotion of mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and CAREC.
