MEETING OF THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL COMMISSION OF TURKMENISTAN ON HUMAN RIGHTS

On May 10, 2022, a joint meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the implementation of international obligations of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law and the UN country team was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A meeting was attended by representatives of the Halk Maslakhaty and the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, a number of ministries and sectoral departments, public organizations, international structures accredited in the country.

According to the agenda of the meeting, issues of the implementation of the Plans and the participation of UN structures in further strengthening cooperation in the protection of human rights were discussed.

A separate subject of discussion was the priority vectors of multi-format partnership with the structural divisions of the United Nations for the successful implementation of joint programs. In this regard, special emphasis was placed on the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030, adopted by the Community of Nations and providing for a number of comprehensive actions for sustainable economic growth, social progress and environmental protection.

At the end of the meeting, gratitude was expressed to the representatives of international organizations for their support and fruitful cooperation, joint work on the development and implementation of projects and programs.

Other topical issues in the field of human rights and humanitarian law were also considered at the meeting.
