Turkmen athletes take part in the World Nomad Games

On 31 August 2026, the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games was held at the newly constructed Bishkek Arena Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

The international sports and cultural event brings together athletes from more than 100 countries around the world. The programme of the Games includes cultural, ethnosport and scientific areas, with competitions held in 43 sports. These include national wrestling, horse racing, archery, intellectual games and other traditional sports.

Athletes from Turkmenistan are also taking part in the competitions, demonstrating their skills in Turkmen national wrestling and other sports.

The 6th World Nomad Games will be held from 31 August to 6 September. The main events are taking place in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic. As part of the Games, an ethnovillage consisting of more than 300 yurts has been established in the Kyrchyn Gorge, showcasing the national culture, decorative and applied arts, and traditions of the nomadic way of life of the Kyrgyz people.

The World Nomad Games are one of the important international events contributing to the broad promotion of the national traditions and customs, cultural heritage and ethnosport disciplines of the peoples of Central Asia among the international community.
