Prospects for bilateral cooperation in the transport, logistics, trade-economic spheres were discussed in Baku

On April 1, 2026, as part of the visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, meetings were held in Baku between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev and the Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, the Chairman of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Azerbaijan Railways" Rovshan Rustamov, as well as the Director of LLC "Baku International Sea Trade Port" Eldar Salakhov.

During the meetings, a wide range of issues was considered, including: the development of existing transport corridors between the two countries; the expansion of cooperation between the seaports of the two countries, the full utilization of port capacity potential, and the increase in cargo transportation volumes; joint work on transit corridor projects; further intensification of international transport and transit corridors passing through the territories of the two countries.

In addition the parties disçussed the issues of preliminary preparations for the next meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission, which will be held this year; further development of cooperation between the business communities of the two countries and the establishment of new areas of interaction; discussion of the possibilities for organizing a business forum and a products exhibition in the cities of Ashgabat and Baku and an increase in trade and turnover between the two countries, as well as the expansion of the range of manufactured products through the full use of the potential of the Caspian Sea.

As part of the visit, the delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan N.Atagulyev also visited the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ), where it was briefed on their activities and potential.
