An interdepartmental round table with the participation of ILO representatives held at the MFA of Turkmenistan

On 12 March 2026, an interdepartmental round table with the participation of representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was dedicated to the development of cooperation in the fields of labour, social protection and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, international organizations, as well as social partners.

During the meeting, the participants discussed priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ILO, including the improvement of labour legislation, the promotion of the principles of decent work, and the implementation of joint programmes aimed at strengthening social policy.

In her speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the ILO and consistently implements state policy aimed at enhancing the level of social protection of the population, ensuring decent working conditions and expanding employment opportunities. It was emphasized that cooperation with the ILO contributes to the introduction of advanced international practices and the strengthening of the national system of labour relations.

Particular attention during the round table was paid to the results of the joint work carried out in 2025, the implementation of joint projects aimed at promoting the principles of decent work, as well as the discussion of priority areas of cooperation for 2026.

The speakers noted Turkmenistan’s consistent efforts to develop international cooperation in the social and labour sphere and emphasized the importance of exchanging experience and expanding partnership initiatives with the ILO.
