The Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan

On 8 January 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan Bandaru Wilsonbabu.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further development of Turkmen-Indian relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The diplomats discussed issues related to the organization of visits and meetings at the highest state level in the current year.

The possibilities for mutual visits by the chiefs of foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of India were considered. 

In this regard, the preliminary agenda for political consultations planned to be held in the near future at the level of deputy foreign ministers of two countries was discussed.

In addition, the importance of the work of the Turkmen-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation was noted, and the importance of holding its next session in the near future was underlined.

During the meeting, the draft documents planned to be signed during the upcoming meetings and visits were also viewed.
